Mitsubishi Motors Eclipse Cross: A Fusion of Innovation and Aesthetics

Designed by Noriko Hirai, this award-winning brochure brings the car to life

With the Mitsubishi Motors Eclipse Cross, Noriko Hirai has crafted a brochure that not only showcases the car's features but also tells a story of driving through the city. The design is a testament to the meticulousness and delicacy that only the Japanese can offer, and it has been recognized with a Silver A' Advertising, Marketing and Communication Design Award in 2021.

The Eclipse Cross brochure was inspired by the image of a young couple driving through the city, enjoying the lightness of the PHEV system and the twin-motor 4WD. The design team, including Takanori Utsumi and Junichi Sugawara, was thorough in filming and creating elaborate graphics to show the car's endlessly pleasant driving experience, even when the drive battery was running low.

What sets this design apart is its attention to detail and the team's dedication to expressing the car's unique features. The brochure is an A4 size, 18-page document that beautifully encapsulates the car's specifications and functions. It's a testament to the team's hard work and creativity that they were able to complete the project amidst the challenges posed by Covid-19.

The design process began in April 2020 in Tokyo and was completed in August 2020. The team conducted thorough research on the features of the Eclipse Cross car, its target audience, target sales volume, and sales launch date. They superimposed this information on the Mitsubishi Motors brand, went to photograph it, and incorporated it into elaborate graphics.

Despite the challenges of filming during the Covid-19 pandemic and dealing with inadequate filming equipment and insufficient staff resources, the team was able to create a brochure that truly brings the car to life. The result is a testament to their dedication and creativity, and it's no surprise that the design has been recognized with a prestigious award.
